Inherent to the endeavor of promoting the musical heritage of early and Byzantine music, the publications resulting from the projects carried out by the REVIVART Association reflect the fruits of research into these musical collections.
In 2021 and 2022, Cătălin Cernătescu (research scientist III, PhD, at the National University of Music Bucharest) published two volumes with UNMB Publishing House on the evolution of calophonic irmoas in Romania: The musical tradition of Romanian-language calophonic irmoas between the 18th and 21st centuries, and Calophonic irmoas: analytical catalog, exighisire, transcription, and romanization.
Also published by UNMB, the first volume of the Anthologion by Petru Manuil Efesiul was transcribed using modern notation (2023), A similar approach was taken in the case of the New Doxastar compiled by Dionisie Fotino, edited under the supervision of Cătălin Cernătescu and Prof. Nicolae Gheorghiță. These publications were accompanied by recordings by the UNMB Byzantine Music Ensemble “Psalmodia.”
Shifting gears to secular repertoire, the UNMB’s Dimitrie Cantemir Early Music Ensemble recorded the album Spune, inimioară, spune (Tell Me, Little Heart) in 2025, featuring 19th-century works composed by Anton Pann and George Ucenescu.
